The BBC is embarking on a mission to find Britain's Best Young Speaker. This thrilling, once in a lifetime competition will be shown on BBC2 early in 2009. Thousands of 14-18 year olds will compete in a series of challenges that could take place anywhere in the world as they are coached by celebrity mentors.To get involved initially applicants are invited to upload a one minute speech to the BBC website at www.bbc.co.uk/speaker. The closing date for applications is 1 August 2008. You can download a poster below.
Learn to Sign Week - 6-12 October 2008
The British Deaf Association is offering schools throughout the UK the opportunity to learn British Sign Language. Learn to Sign Week campaign 2008 is an opportunity for your pupils and staff to develop new language skills, interpersonal skills and provide an opportunity for education in mutual understanding (EMU).More details can be found in the flyer below.
